GUNIA x Pryvity

GUNIA Project has partnered with Pryvit to present a limited ceramic collection that bridges Ukrainian naïve art traditions with Asian cultural motifs. The collection includes five handcrafted ceramic pieces — plates, a butter dish, and a sauce boat. Each item is individually painted and accented with gilding, featuring symbolic inscriptions in Chinese, Japanese, and Thai that transliterate the name “GUNIA.” Select pieces will also be used for serving Pryvit’s signature dishes, including Peking duck, sushi rolls, and Pad Thai.

At the heart of the drop is the image of the tiger — a timeless Asian symbol of protection, strength, and inner harmony.The design draws inspiration from a 16th-century ceramic tile depicting a mythical creature discovered in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine, as well as embroidered cats from a mid-20th-century ritual towel preserved in GUNIA’s archive. Complementing these elements are ducks, a common theme in Ukrainian folk painting, brought together in a playful narrative.

В колекції кераміки представлене розмаїття художніх тарілок, ємність для вина, цукорниці, чайники й чашки з блюдцями нових форм, а маслянка та свічки переймають силует іграшки-коника. Вироби виконані та розписані вручну у мʼякій палітрі, з яскравими акцентами та позолотою, як візуалізація святкового настрою й оптимізму. 

A distinctive feature of the collection is its deep indigo hue, a shade historically used in Chinese porcelain since the 14th century to signify refinement and imperial style. Rare in Ukraine due to the complexity of trade routes, indigo has become a recognizable element of GUNIA’s visual identity.
