Our philosophy lies in preserving craftsmanship. Every collection begins with ethnographic research — we explore traditional silhouettes, embroidery, and ornaments to reinterpret them through contemporary design.
We preserve handwork in production and embrace imperfection, as it gives each piece character and a sense of life. We collaborate with artisans from across the country — over 150 masters and craftswomen from all regions of Ukraine, each with their own approach, rhythm, and vision. GUNIA pieces are created in close dialogue with them — a complex but invaluable process where the human hand remains central.
GUNIA's work combines nine artisanal techniques: from blown glass, wickerwork, and woodcarving to embroidery, weaving, and fine ceramics — each allowing the craft to live on through new forms.

Candles
What may seem like magic is actually the result of a sequence of technical processes carried out by skilled artisans. The GUNIA bird-shaped candle is an iconic piece — a blend of a naïve form, natural components, and meticulous attention to detail.
Creating a single ceramic bird involves six stages. First, the mold is filled with slip. Excess material is trimmed, and the piece is sent for firing. The next steps include smoothing, washing, and glazing. The artisan then prepares the wick, melts the wax to the right temperature, and carefully mixes it with aromatic oil. The wick is set in place, the wax is poured, and the candle is left to set for 24 hours.
Now the bird candle is ready to fill a home with fragrance and the natural glow of fire.

Ceramics
GUNIA Project ceramics are crafted at the brand’s own production facility — with respect for both natural and human resources, aiming to preserve and carry on traditional craftsmanship. Each ceramic object begins with a mold developed by a sculptor. The piece, created using the slip casting method, is fired in a kiln and then passed on to decoration artisans. A team of 30 artists works on painting GUNIA ceramics. The ornaments, inspired by Ukrainian culture, are applied by hand.

The painted piece is coated with glaze and undergoes a second firing. Gilding is the final touch that completes the design of the object. The third and final firing lasts five hours. Each ceramic item requires over 20 stages of manual work — created to become a part of modern heritage.
